The Evolution of a concept
The transformation of Old Masters.
During a visit to the Louvre and in particular the section which holds the technically brilliant portraits of the Renaissance, with their intense colours, unique atmosphere and subdued light, the small portraits painted by the Italian Renaissance artists, housed in a small passageway were bypassed by most tourists who were only focused on the Mona Lisa. Nele was very moved by the lack of attention that people paid, in fact the faces, and primarily the eyes in these overlooked portraits pleaded for attention, and followed you through the hall. For more than 500 years they have yearned for attention but have been often overlooked, so Nele decided to take these portraits and let them rest by closing their eyes, and their mouths. In a further adaptation of this project, the next stage in the repose of the portraits chosen by Nele, accept the calmness and tranquility of no longer needing to communicate with their viewer, and finally rest in blissful sleep.
